How early should you book your wedding DJ or other entertainment?

For my first blog post, I thought I would share my thoughts on the importance of booking the entertainment for your event EARLY. The thought came to me earlier today as I was responding to a bride, who was looking to book my services for August 15th, 2015. Unfortunately for the bride, this date has been booked since last year... In these situations, I always go the extra mile to recommend other reputable DJ's from my area (who are also good friends of mine) hoping they are still available but at this point in the calendar, it is very unlikely this bride will be booking any of the top DJ's in our area. The fact is that good DJ's book up fast and early. There are some DJ companies that have multiple DJ's working for them... if you decide to book with one of these companies, I always recommend that you find out prior to signing any contracts or paying a retainer fee, who your DJ will be on the day of your event. I also recommend taking it one step further, by asking to meet with this DJ to start building trust and rapport with them. After all, this will be the person responsible for entertaining your guests on your special day. We've heard too many stories about "some guy" just showing up to DJ a wedding, who wasn't properly prepared for the evening. Your guests deserve better than just "some guy"... To have a successful wedding reception, it is imperative that you start looking for your DJ EARLY so that you can find one you can trust... once you find the DJ who is right for you, book him/her right away to ensure another couple doesn't steal him/her away.

I look forward to hearing from you! Happy planning!
